Former drug laboratories in South Australia are handled under the South Australian Public Health (Clandestine Drug Laboratories) Policy 2016, made by SA Health under section 53 of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011, with a supporting practice guideline. The policy supports local government environmental health officers to make sure affected properties are assessed and, where required, remediated, and SA Health says the processes apply to the manufacture of any illicit drug, excluding synthetic opioids.
Nationally, the Clandestine Drug Laboratory Remediation Guidelines (2011) set 0.5 µg/100 cm² as the residential indoor-surface investigation level for methylamphetamine (see what the 0.5 µg/100 cm² level means). Rented homes are governed by the Residential Tenancies Act 1995 (SA), and the minimum housing standards published by the Housing Safety Authority SA include that a property be reasonably free from mould or other irritants and from the adverse effects of moisture or damp. Test Australia's suitably qualified occupational hygienists collect the samples and write the report. Methamphetamine samples are analysed by a NATA-accredited laboratory. For every other test, the report names the laboratory and states any accreditation that applies. Test Australia itself is not NATA-accredited.

Does South Australian rental law cover drug contamination and mould?
Yes. Under section 67B of the Residential Tenancies Act 1995, a landlord who becomes aware of drug-related conduct at the premises must give the tenant notice and test within one month.
