Contamination assessment by Test Australia's suitably qualified occupational hygienists, led by Principal Occupational Hygienist and Chartered Chemist Dan Neil, who has worked in contamination assessment since 2001. Each service below links to its national page, and each city page gives local delivery details.
Property contamination isn't just about failed test results — it's about understanding what is present, where it is, and what the results can and cannot show.
No concentration on its own shows that a property or vehicle was used for manufacture. An opinion on manufacture rests on manufacture-specific markers and site evidence, assessed together, and the report states its limits.
Assessments are carried out by a Chartered Chemist (MRACI CChem) using a documented methodology, and every report sets out the method, chain of custody and limitations.
Assess manufacture-specific markers alongside site evidence
We do not clean, remediate, manage claims, or receive income from cleaning, remediation or referral arrangements. WA Health recommends that the company testing a property is different from the company remediating it.
Chartered Chemist status listed on the RACI public register
Reports document method, chain of custody, uncertainty and limitations.
Each service page sets out what is sampled, which laboratory analyses the samples and what the signed report covers.
Surface wipe sampling to NIOSH Method 9111, analysis by LC-MS/MS at a NATA-accredited laboratory and a signed report. Results are compared with the 0.5 µg/100 cm² investigation level in the Clandestine Drug Laboratory Remediation Guidelines (2011), which is not a line between safe and unsafe. An opinion on manufacture rests on manufacture-specific markers and site evidence, assessed together.
A visual and moisture inspection, with air and surface sampling where it helps answer the question. Samples are analysed by a NATA-accredited laboratory. The report identifies the mould types found, records moisture findings and states its limits.
After flooding, a sewage overflow, hoarding or a decomposition event, surfaces can carry bacteria that are not visible. Surface sampling shows where contamination remains and, after cleaning, whether it has been reduced. The report states the criteria used and its limits.
Fire damage extends beyond visible char. Combustion residues such as soot, ash and PAH can reach areas that look undamaged. The report names the criterion used and why.
Properties can be contaminated by various substances beyond methamphetamine. Our multi-drug screening tests for amphetamines, cocaine, opioids, cannabis, and other controlled substances — for rental properties and pre-purchase inspections. The substances analysed are agreed when the job is scoped.
Cars, vans, caravans, motorhomes and boats can carry methamphetamine residue from use or manufacture. Test Australia has found no Australian criterion written for vehicles. The report states which criterion results are compared against and why. Our vehicle testing applies the same forensic methodology used for properties — providing documented results for insurance claims, pre-purchase inspections, and fleet management.
Test Australia attends in person in the cities below. Regional areas are by arrangement.

Discuss your concerns and the property history. Every assessment is scoped to the question being asked, and we reply with a fee proposal.
On-site inspection and representative sampling with chain-of-custody records, and NIOSH Method 9111 for methamphetamine.
Samples analysed by independent laboratories, and methamphetamine samples by a NATA-accredited laboratory.
A signed report setting out the method, chain of custody, results, uncertainty and limitations.
Pre-purchase testing gives you evidence before you commit. Reports give every party the same documented results.
Testing before sale documents results against the named criterion for buyers to review.
Assessments at the start or end of a tenancy document the property’s condition.
Testing between tenancies gives you documented results before the next tenant moves in.
If a property is the subject of a claim, any party can commission the assessment, and the report is the same whoever commissions it.
Baseline and verification sampling. We do not remediate and take no referral fees.
Test Australia offers methamphetamine testing, mould inspection, bacteria testing, fire damage assessment, drug residue testing and vehicle methamphetamine testing. Each assessment is scoped to the question being asked, and Test Australia designs the sampling plan for that question. Field work covers 8 capital cities, and regional areas are by arrangement.
A Chartered Chemist (MRACI CChem) is a Chartered Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, which can be checked on the RACI public register. Test Australia is led by Dan Neil, Principal Occupational Hygienist and Chartered Chemist. Test Australia's suitably qualified occupational hygienists collect the samples. Every report is signed.
Test Australia attends in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin, Canberra and Hobart. Regional areas are by arrangement, and DIY screening kits ship Australia-wide. Each city page gives local delivery details. Every assessment is scoped to the question being asked. Request a fee proposal and we will reply with the scope, fee and available dates.
Independent laboratories analyse the samples, and methamphetamine samples are analysed by a NATA-accredited laboratory. Test Australia itself is not NATA-accredited. NATA (the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia) accredits laboratories against ISO/IEC 17025 for specific tests. The report names the laboratory and states any accreditation that applies to each test.
Not with Test Australia, which tests and reports but does not clean, remediate, manage claims or take referral income. That means there is no conflict of interest in the result. WA Health recommends that the company testing a property is different from the company remediating it.
Yes, each report is written so any party can check its method, results and limitations. Whether a tribunal, court or insurer relies on it is a decision for them. Any party can commission the assessment, and the report is the same whoever commissions it.
Reports are available within 5 business days of the laboratory results being received. The report sets out the method, the results, the criterion each result is compared with, and the limitations. Request a fee proposal and we will reply with the scope, fee and available dates.
Yes, independent testing after the work confirms the outcome. Remediation is done to standards such as IICRC S900 for drug residues, IICRC S520 for mould, IICRC S500 for water and sewage damage and IICRC S700 for fire and smoke damage. Test Australia independently checks the outcome.
